Birthday Haul

last thursday I turned 19, yaaaaay!
So i thought i would show you a selection of the gifts i received. Maybe if you know someone who has a birthday coming up and you have no idea what to give them, this may help. Or maybe you're like me and love reading shopping hauls because you're a bit nosey and interested into what people buy. Either way, here is my birthday haul!!

**also i would like to comment that most of these items were gifts from my family, and i am beyond grateful for these items i received. I am in no way showing off or bragging about my presents, i just thought people may be interested**

Fossil Watch from my Parents - www.fossil.co.uk

Unfortunately, a lot of high-street/cheaper watches give me an allergic reaction, leaving my wrist with an itchy rash, so i opted for a bit more expensive make of watch, hoping that this would not happen(and so far it hasn't). I really wanted a plain and simple watch that would go with all my outfits, so this fossil watch was perfect for me, with a plain face which had no gems or pattern and was 'boyfriend style' , so was nice and big, meaning that it's quick and easy to read the time.

Oversized checked scarf from my Grandma - Primark

I didn't originally intend on purchasing yet another scarf to add to my collection, but when shopping with my grandma on my birthday, i came across this scarf all alone in the shop, so i bought it (or at least that's my excuse for buying another scarf) i took it as fate, that the last scarf in the store,  was misplaced and just lying there, waiting for me, haha!! It is perfect for the autumnal trend of cape scarfs thats is in for A/W 2014 because of the size of it. i honestly love this scarf and have worn it several times already.

Knee High Boots from Grandma - New Look
After thinking long and hard what i needed or more like what i wanted for my birthday from my grandma, i got it set in my mind that i wanted some long boots, preferably knee high ones (probably because I'd seen numerous pinterest posts with amazing winter outfits, which always included some a gorgeous pair of long booties) After dragging my grandma in several shops around town, and trying on about 20 different pairs of boots, i found some beautiful ones in New Look. I love how edgy these boots look with the chain detail around the ankle and the leather look, but when i wear them i also feel more confident, because they make you're legs look longer, as well as feeling stylish because knee high boots have been all over the A/W catwalks this year.

Scarf from Parents - F & F @ Tesco

Haha, i know i have a scarf problem. This one is more of a wooly scarf for those freezing 9am lectures.  The orangey tones attracted me to the scarf because it made me feel all 'autumny' but also the scarf is reversible, with a blue checked pattern on the other side. This 'two in one' feature means its perfect for my student lifestyle and my small uni wardrobe, as i can cut down on the scarfs i have in there(well that was the plan anyway, haha!)

Thanks for reading,
Please comment and let me know what you would like to see,

University Room

As my first ever post on this blog, i thought it would be nice for you, to get to know me better, so i have opened the doors to my flat and let all of you in. Also i thought it might useful for students who like me, have just moved away from home but need a little inspiration on decorating their room to make it feel a bit more homely and less like a small, empty wooden box.

firstly the bed, the place where students probably spend most of their time (besides maybe the pub!) due to us students basically living in our beds, it is important to make it a comfy place to relax. Add some cushions, your favourite teddy  (you're never to old for one) and a fluffy blanket and you are pretty much sorted.

Bird Cushions  | Homecare
Soft Cream Cushions | Primark
Sloth Teddy | South Lakes Wildlife Park

to prevent feeling home sick and for a great decoration tip, print some photographs off and hang them  either on a piece of string or on some fairy lights like me. i have a selection of photographs that make me happy when i am feeling slightly home sick or sad, including ones of my family and pets, but you can have pictures or photographs of whatever you like and be inventive. maybe hang up all the concert tickets you have collected over the years or lots of magazine cuttings of harry styles, whatever you want. the key is to make your dorm room your own. just be you.

also i hung my fair lights up with little sticky hooks that do not damage the wall, so totally following dorm room rules.

After you bed is sorted and your room is feeling more homely,  it's up to you to put whatever you like into your room. Below are a few examples of what i have lying around, mainly on my desk, to inspire me when I'm doing my endless amounts of uni work, and just to make the place look pretty.
